Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to improve image quality by correcting positional deviation at optimum timing for each of systems. SOLUTION: A printer 220 includes: a plurality of image carrier 201; an intermediate transfer belt 203 for transferring electrostatic latent toner images formed on the image carriers thereto; a motor 205 for driving the image carriers 201 and the intermediate transfer belt 203; a reading sensor 216 for reading an image pattern formed on the intermediate transfer belt 203; a positional deviation correcting means 219 for reading the image pattern by means of the reading sensor 216 thereby measuring positional deviation from each of reference colors and correcting an image recording position; a control section 218 for controlling the positional deviation correcting means 219 based on the image pattern read by the reading sensor 216 and temperature information detected by a temperature detecting means 217; and the temperature detecting means 217 for detecting the temperature of a drive roller 208.
