Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer having high diversity of a non-fluorine moiety, into which a fluorine group can be selectively introduced to a position appropriate for developing a function, in particular, a polymer having a fluorine-containing group at least at one terminal of the main chain. SOLUTION: A method for producing a polymer having a fluorine-containing group at least at one terminal of the main chain is provided, including steps of (1) initiating polymerization of monomers by using a cationic polymerization initiator and (2) stopping the cationic polymerization reaction by using a cationic polymerization terminator, wherein at least one of the cationic polymerization initiator and the cationic polymerization terminator has a fluorine-containing group.
