Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the degradation of image quality with a simple driving signal waveform. SOLUTION: A driving signal applied to a recording head 2 includes at least an expansion pulse for expanding the volume of a pressure generating chamber 28, and a contraction pulse for contracting the volume of the pressure generating chamber 28, and satisfies the following relational expressions: P1=1AL, P2=2AL, ¾Von/Voff¾>1, ä(2n+1)-0.5}AL≤T≤ä(2n+1)+0.5}AL, wherein P1: the pulse width of the expansion pulse, P2: the pulse width of the contraction pulse, AL: 1/2 of an acoustic resonance period of the pressure generating chamber 28, Von: a voltage value of the expansion pulse, Voff: a voltage value of the contraction pulse, T: a driving width from the start point of time of the expansion pulse to the start point of time of the following expansion pulse, and n: a natural number of 2 to 8.
