PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purifying apparatus which reduces NOx by CO in an exhaust gas even if hydrocarbon is not included in the exhaust gas and there is no supply means of a reducing agent by the procedure except using the exhaust gas. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas purifying apparatus is composed by arranging an NO selective oxidation catalyst of LaFeO3to selectively oxidize NO to NO2at the upstream of an exhaust gas flowing passage and arranging an NO2reduction catalyst at the downstream thereof. A catalyst consisting of P, Ir and SiO2as an NO2reduction catalyst is used when the exhaust gas does not contain SO2. A catalyst consisting of Ir and SiO2or P, Ir and SiO2as an NO reduction catalyst is used when the exhaust gas contains SO2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
