Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnified image with a resolved feeling without whitening or blackening colors near the edge of a chromatic color part. SOLUTION: For an image (D32A), a high frequency component is extracted further from an image (D2B) for which the high frequency component of an image (YIN) indicating luminance is extracted and magnified. For an image (D32B), processing including nonlinear processing is performed to the image for which the high frequency component of the image (YIN) indicating the luminance is extracted and magnified. At least one of the image (D32A) or the image (D32B) is amplified by an amplification factor to be changed corresponding to the pixel value of an image (D5) for which the absolute values of the magnified image (D2A) of the image indicating the luminance and the magnified images (D2C, D2D) of images (CBIN, CRIN) indicating a color difference are weighted and added, and is then added to the magnified image (D2A) of the image indicating the luminance.
