Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an enlarged image with high resolution without causing excessive overshooting or undershooting. SOLUTION: An input image (Din) is enlarged to output a first enlarged image (D2A). The high-frequency component of the input image (Din) is enlarged to output a second enlarged image (D2B). The high-frequency component of the second enlarged image (D2B) is extracted to output a first intermediate image (D32A). A second intermediate image (D32B) obtained by applying non-linear processing to the second enlarged image (D2B) is output. Further, at least one pixel value of the first intermediate image (D32A) and the second intermediate image (D32B) is amplified by an amplification factor corresponding to the code of the pixel value of the image and the pixel value of the first enlarged image (D2B) (33A, 33B).
