Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a sagging or a crack of an incidence plane of a laser beam of a ridge optical waveguide wavelength conversion element. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an optical waveguide wavelength conversion element includes at least: a step of forming grooves which intersect perpendicularly with a periodic polarization inversion stripe to form a ridge; a step of cutting a substrate into blocks each including a plurality of optical waveguide wavelength conversion element chips; a step of supplying hot melt wax to the ridge face of the block; a step of loading a dummy substrate to the ridge face of the block; a step of melting the hot melt wax, while pressing the block and the dummy substrate; a step of cooling, while pressing the block and the dummy substrate; a step of grinding a ridge end face; a step of polishing the ridge end face; a step of detaching the dummy substrate; and a step of dividing the block into single optical waveguide wavelength conversion element chips.
