Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner for IR ray fixing, the toner developing excellent color saturation and lightness while suppressing generation of voids; and to provide a method for producing the toner. SOLUTION: The method for producing the toner includes: a spraying step (S4c) where an IR ray absorbent-containing solution containing an IR ray absorbent and a solvent that accelerates melt-sticking of the resin particles and the toner base particles is sprayed onto composite particles, which in turn have resin fine particles stuck to the surfaces of the toner base particles and are circulated by use of an air flow, to form wet composite particles having the resin fine particles and the IR ray absorbent stuck to the surfaces of the toner base particles; and a filming step (S4d) where collision force is added to the wet composite particles circulated by use of an air flow to form a film of the resin fine particles on the surfaces of the toner base particles in a state where the IR ray absorbent is contained.
