Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope system reducing the effect of the mask region during the setting of the gain value of the light regulation signal, and to provide a light regulation signal correcting method in the electronic endoscope system. SOLUTION: The electronic endoscope system comprises an electronic endoscope for forming an image signal by imaging the observation subject and a processor for supplying the illumination light to the electronic endoscope. The electronic endoscope includes: a mask processing means for mask processing in the predetermined region of the image signal; and a light regulation signal forming means for forming the light regulation signal based on the luminance information of the image signal. The processor includes: an identification means for identifying the mask region of the light regulation signal; a pseudo-signal forming means for forming the pseudo-signal; a selecting means for selecting the light regulation signal or the pseudo-signal and outputting it; and a luminance computing means for computing the representative luminance based on the signal outputted from the selected signal, and the above selecting means is composed to output the pseudo-signal to the luminance computing means in the mask region of the light regulation signal.
