Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a spell check function without making it necessary for the operator of an electronic dictionary to perform the operation of the performance instruction of a spell check function. SOLUTION: An input part 12 accepts the input of a character configuring a retrieval character string. A CPU 11 retrieves a keyword whose prefix is matched with a retrieval character string when the input part 12 accepts the input of a character. Also, when the input part 12 accepts the input of the character, the CPU 11 searches for the keyword including a character string approximating to the retrieval character string. An output part 13 displays the keyword whose prefix is matched with the retrieval character string and the keyword including the character string approximating to the retrieval character string, those keywords which are retrieved by the CPU 11, at the same time on one picture.
