Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of driving performance when a continuously variable transmission mechanism reaches the highest gear ratio before change of a gear ratio of a subtransmission mechanism starts. SOLUTION: A control device of a vehicle continuously variable transmission 4 is equipped with the continuously variable transmission mechanism 20 and the subtransmission mechanism 30. The control device comprises a final gear ratio setting means for setting an overall gear ratio of the continuously variable transmission mechanism 20 and the subtransmission mechanism 30 which should be achieved based on a vehicle driving condition as a final gear ratio, a shift control means for controlling the continuously variable transmission mechanism 20 and the auxiliary transmission mechanism 30 so that the overall gear ratio can follow the final gear ratio by predetermined transient response, stagnation determination means (S34, S62) for determining whether a stagnation period in which the overall gear ratio does not change will occur during an upshift, and shortening control means (S3, S6) for shortening time until the subtransmission mechanism 30 shifts to an inertia phase when the stagnation determination means determine that the stagnation period will occur.
