Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of reducing the load of a patient by dispensing with the sampling of tissue indispensable for conventional immuno-staining in the examination of lung cancer and malignant mesothelioma, and collecting data that becomes the index of lung cancer and malignant mesothelioma.SOLUTION: In the immunoassay of podoplanin characterized by measuring podoplanin in a body fluid, it is preferable to use the monoclonal antibody to the podoplanin in this immunoassay; and in particular, it is preferable that the onoclonal antibody contain an antibody for recognizing the extracellular region of podoplanin protruding to the outside from the surface of a cell membrane and an antibody for recognizing a region other than the extracellular region of the podoplanin. Furthermore, the body fluid is preferably blood or fluid in the thoracic cavity, and it is preferable that the podoplanin be one related to lung cancer or mesothelioma.
