Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information reproducing device and an information reproducing method which independently display contents type and a kind of medium included in each hierarchy grouped in accordance with the contents type and the kind of medium, and also indicate reproduction of contents from an optional hierarchical structure. SOLUTION: According to one embodiment, the information reproducing device extracts contents in accordance with a kind of medium or a kind of contents displayed by a selected display area out of a first display area and a second display area. displays the extracted contents as detail information, and receives selection indication, thereby reproducing the selected file.
