Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method of identifying an object with which the object is accurately identified even if a plurality of objects exist in a measurement area. SOLUTION: The apparatus 400 of identifying the object identifies a first object whose position is detected by a camera 200 and a second object whose position is detected by an RFID reader 300 in the same measurement area. It has: an association degree determination unit 420 for obtaining a degree of association between the first object and the second object based on relation between the position of the first object and the position of the second object, and relation between an error field defined by a distribution of positional errors corresponding to the position of the first object and an error field defined by a distribution of positional errors corresponding to the position of the second object; and an identification determination unit 431 for determining that the first object and the second object are identical when they have a high degree of association.
