Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stabilizing lantibiotic, especially nisin and a germicidal composition. SOLUTION: The germicidal composition is a composition containing an antimicrobially effective amount of lantibiotic, and comprises 10-100,000 pts.wt. (preferably 50-50,000 pts.wt., more preferably 100-10,000 pts.wt.) of thioctic acid or a salt thereof acceptable from the viewpoint of medical treatment or food sanitation based on 1 pt.wt. of lantibiotic.
