Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize conventional batteries for an automobile and a motorcycle, to improve fuel consumption, and further to extend conventional battery life. SOLUTION: A controller for a battery controls a secondary battery for starting an engine so as to run only by an EDLC and an electric power of a generator at running and so as to operate the battery and the EDLC in parallel at voltage drop or the like. As the conventional battery functions almost only at the start of the engine, the battery life is greatly extended. The battery reduces the useless power generation and load of the alternator by efficient charge and discharge of the EDLC and high output, improves the fuel consumption, and has high efficiency as compared with a conventional automobile battery.
