Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery excellent in discharge capacity and a capacity maintenance rate. SOLUTION: The active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes first particles and second particles covering the surface of the each first particle so as to be scattered on the surface of the each first particle. The circularity of the first particles covered with the second particles, is to be 0.800 or more and 0.950 or less, with a ratio r1/r2 of a mean particle diameter r1 of the second particles and a mean particle diameter r2 of the first particles to be 1/20 or more and 1/2 or less.
