Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure sensor of a shearing work mold capable of reducing frequency of replacing a punch and a die. SOLUTION: The failure sensor 100 is applicable to a shearing work mold 101 which includes a pair of a punch 1 and a die 3, carries a material 4 to be cut between the punch 1 and the die 3, and cuts the material 4 by applying load to the material 4 by the punch 1 and the die 3. The failure sensor 100 includes detecting parts 6, 7 and 22 for detecting relative positions of the punch 1 and the die 3 when the load applied to the material 4 from the punch 1 is the maximum while the shearing work mold 101 cuts the material 4, and an output part 24 for outputting data indicating change with time of the detected relative positions detected by the detecting parts 6, 7 and 22.
