Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately determine the necessity of the operation of an engine starting device, and to suppress inconvenience caused by the unnecessarily drive of the starting device. SOLUTION: An ECU 40 detects engine rotational speed at the restart request timing of the engine 10 as start request time rotational speed, and detects the engine rotational speed at timing when the engine rotational speed after the restart request of the engine 10 is shifted over to raising speed as speed raising time rotational speed. The ECU 40 starts the engine 10 by a starter 37 or starts the engine 10 by restarting the combustion control of the engine 10 based on a comparison result between the start request time rotational speed and a start determination value which is a threshold for determining the necessity of the operation of the starter 37 set further at a high rotation side than a prescribed allowable lower limit value. The ECU 40 changes the start determination value based on the speed raising time rotational speed and the allowable lower limit value at the restart of the engine in the past.
