Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing fine fibrous cellulose efficiently, namely a method for producing the fine fibrous cellulose with a maximum of a fiber width of ≤1,000 nm simply and efficiently. SOLUTION: This method for producing the fine fibrous cellulose, namely the method for producing the fine fibrous cellulose with a maximum of the fiber width of ≤1,000 nm, includes: ozonizing a cellulose fiber; dispersing the fiber in water; and pulverizing the resultant aqueous suspension of the cellulose fiber. The ozone addition rate in the ozonizing treatment is 0.1-30 mass% on the basis of the absolute dry mass of the cellulose fiber.
