Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a Spindt type or a CNT type electron emission element does not necessarily make an effective use of a space, since it is formed in a flat shape, with electron emission positions varied, with uniform electron emission current unavailable and with electron emission efficiency poor. SOLUTION: The plane electron emission source has a first conductive member and a second conductive member formed so as to face each other and emits electron as a voltage is impressed between the conductive members. The first conductive member consists of a substrate with protrusions and a thin-film electrode on the substrate, and at least an insulating member is arranged between the protrusions of the first conductive member, insulation coating nano-particles are arranged around the insulating member, and the protrusions of the first conductive member have a constant interval.
