Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic composite filler that imparts excellent mechanical strength, durability, and stable paste operability along with characteristics, such as excellent polishing characteristics, surface smoothness, and glossiness; a method for producing the same; and a dental composition including the same. SOLUTION: The organic composite filler is obtained when surfaces of organic-inorganic polymer particles or organic polymer particles are coated with inorganic coatings. In the method for producing the composite filler, a silane compound and/or a low condensate of a silane compound are hydrolyzed or partially hydrolyzed and condensed in the presence of the organic-inorganic polymer particles or organic polymer particles distributed in an aqueous medium containing water; or a silane compound and/or a low condensate of a silane compound are hydrolyzed or partially hydrolyzed and co-condensed in the co-presence of at least one of an organosilane compound, a low condensate of an organosilane compound, and a metal compound, thereby forming the inorganic coatings on the surfaces of the particles. The dental composition includes the organic composite filler. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
