Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of color adjacent to a sharp edge that is caused by sampling and generating a 4:2:2 mode color difference signal from a 4:4:4 mode color difference signal and sampling and restoring the 4:4:4 mode color difference signal from the sampled/generated 4:2:2 mode color difference signal. SOLUTION: The video signal processor includes an edge detection means to detect a sharp edge from a 4:4:4 mode color difference signal, a sampling pulse generation means to generate a sampling pulse for sampling at least pixels before and after the sharp edge, a sampling means to sample the 4:4:4 mode color difference signal on the basis of the sampling pulse and generate the 4:2:2 mode color difference signal, and a video signal restoring means to generate the 4:4:4 mode color difference signal by sampling and restoring at least pixels before and after the sharp edge of the 4:4:4 mode color difference signal from the 4:2:2 mode color difference signal.
