Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element capable of using a material which can not be conventionally used for a hole injection layer. SOLUTION: This organic EL element is composed by laminating a hole injection layer 10, a luminescent layer 11 and an electron injection layer 12 between an anode 1 formed on a substrate S and a cathode 2 arranged oppositely to the anode 1 in that order from the anode 1 side. The hole injection layer 10 contains at least one kind of condensed polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon. The ionization potential of the anode 1 is set ≥5.7 V. Such the anode 1 can be effectively manufactured by applying a reactive ion etching process to a film formed of an anode material. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
