Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lead storage battery in which an active material utilization rate of a positive electrode for the lead storage battery and cycle life characteristics of the lead storage battery are made compatible at a high level. SOLUTION: The pore volume of a positive electrode active material of the lead storage battery is made to be 0.120 cm3/g to 0.138 cm3/g, and the pore volume in the range of a hole diameter of 0.2 μm to 2.0 μm is made 45% or more and ≤70% of the total pore volume. More preferably, this is applied to a liquid-type lead storage battery in which a positive electrode plate filled with the positive electrode active material and a negative electrode plate corresponding to the positive electrode plate are housed while respective electrode plate faces are immersed into an electrolytic solution. By such a constitution, a remarkable effect such as the active material utilization rate of the positive electrode and the cycle life characteristics can be made compatible at the high level is obtained.
