Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems, wherein in an open-type lead battery, there is a case where static electricity infiltrates in the battery inside from a liquid port or an exhaust part, sparks ares generated in the inside, hydrogen gas stayed inside is ignited by the sparks, and the lead battery is deformed and damaged, and also, there is a case, wherein when a conductor to install the static electricity at a negative terminal is arranged at the liquid port or the exhaust part, a leakage current is generated by a liquid channel, and the capacity of the lead battery is reduced. SOLUTION: The conductor 103 is installed between the vicinity of the liquid port 204 or the exhaust part and the negative terminal 206b, and a switching means is arranged between this conductor and the negative terminal. When the voltage at the level of generating hydrogen gas is detected in the lead battery 102, the switching means is closed to establish a conductive state between the conductor and the negative terminal, and the static electricity in the vicinity of the liquid port or the exhaust part is grounded to the negative electrode terminal. Moreover, since the conductive state between the conductor and the negative electrode terminal is established, only when there is a possibility that hydrogen is generated or that it exists, leakage current due to the liquid channel and capacity reduction due to this leakage current can be suppressed.
