Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a aqueous polyurethane resin without substantially using organic solvents, the aqueous polyurethane resin produced by the method, and a film produced from the aqueous polyurethane resin. SOLUTION: The method for producing the aqueous polyurethane resin comprises: a synthesizing step to react a polyisocyanate with an active hydrogen group-containing compound having multiple active hydrogen groups at an equivalent ratio of the isocyanate group of the polyisocyanate to the active hydrogen group of the active hydrogen group-containing compound of 1.2-4, wherein a nonionic group side chain is introduced to at least one of the polyisocyanate and the active hydrogen group-containing compound, and synthesize a nonionic group-containing prepolymer having a concentration of the nonionic group introduced to the side chain of ≥0.9 mass%; and an emulsification/dissolution step to stir the nonionic group-containing prepolymer and water with a vibration mixer to obtain an emulsion or aqueous solution of the nonionic group-containing prepolymer.
