Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply examining efficacy of antimicrobial agent to microorganisms, which has high reliability and quickly obtains results since microorganisms are directly measured. SOLUTION: A microorganism-containing liquid is prepared. A region of an object (a) to be examined for a control, which is composed of the microorganism-containing liquid or a sample obtained by diluting the liquid, and a region of an object (b) to be examined, which is composed of the microorganism-containing liquid or a sample obtained by diluting the liquid and a sample containing an antimicrobial agent of examination object, are formed on a carrier. The microorganisms in the regions are cultured in the vicinity of the optimum temperature of the microorganisms under the same conditions for 2.5-8.0 hours. After the culture, the microorganisms are dyed. The dyed images of the microorganisms in the region of the object (a) and the dyed images of the microorganisms in the region of the object (b) are compared and observed. The amount of the microorganisms in the dyed images of the region of the object (a) is used as a standard. The efficacy of the antimicrobial agent is judged valid when the amount of the microorganisms in the dyed image of the object (b) is ≤10%, intermediate when the amount is >10% and <50% and invalid when the amount is ≥50%.
