Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the sense of flickers, given when an AF frame is moved accompanying the result of detection which is detected in controlling the movement of a subject image, accompanying camera shake and subject shake is detected, and a focus detecting position is moved according to the result of detection. SOLUTION: In the control of the imaging apparatus which images a subject and displays the subject image together with the AF frame plotted to show a focus detection area, the movement of the subject image is detected to perform focus detection of the subject. The focus detection area is position-wise changed, based on the result of movement detection, and the AF frame is position-wise changed, based on the integrated result obtained by integrating the results of movement detection. Thus, the plotting position of the AF frame and the position of the focus detection area are changed with different characteristics, and the integrated result is set to an initial value, after the plotting position of the AF frame is changed.
