Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder and an image forming device capable of obtaining stable pulling-in force of a long stroke by using a weight and suppressing increase of force required for drawing out. SOLUTION: The paper feeder 3 is constituted such that the weight 105 and a paper feeding tray 51 are connected through a gear 103a and a roller 103b by a wire 102 and driving of an ascending motor 104 is transmitted to a shaft of the gear 103a. A system control part controls the weight 105 such that the paper feeding tray 51 is pulled-in an attachment position by own weight of the weight 105 and the weight is pulled up to predetermined height by driving of the ascending motor 104 and is retained when it is detected by an attachment sensor 109. By the control, when the paper feeding tray 51 is pulled-in to the attachment position, pulling-in action is not performed, and load by the own weight of the weight 105 is not applied in drawing out.
