Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel economy by allowing temperature of an engine 28 to be optimal operating temperature even during intermittent operations of the engine 28 in a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. SOLUTION: A system 10 for utilizing heat generated by a component of the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle includes an electric component (an inverter system controller 12) arranged in a first coolant circulation system 14 including a first radiator 16. The system also includes the engine 28 arranged in a second coolant circulation system 30 which is in fluid communication with the first coolant circulation system. The first coolant circulation system 14 is configured to selectively direct heated coolant from the electric component to the engine 28. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
