Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for appropriate purification of an exhaust gas, while using a reduced amount of a noble metal as a catalytic active component. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas purification catalyst is used for purification of the exhaust gas exhausted from an internal combustion, wherein the support amounts of the noble metal as the catalytic active component are different at the exhaust gas inlet side and at the exhaust gas outlet side. In the catalyst, CO is oxidized, and HC and NOx are efficiently purified, meanwhile the reduced amount of the noble metal is used, thus reducing material cost and the manufacturing cost of the catalyst.
