Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a target search device such as a radar system whose detection performance and distance resolution do not deteriorate, even when a target has a speed component moving in the same direction as a target search signal. SOLUTION: When a radar signal for transmitting a plurality of chirp-modulated pulses for searching for a target in one direction is generated, one or both of each pulse width and the distance resolution are determined so as to keep a mutual relation of äPw(i)×Dr(i)=Pw(1)×Dr(1)±Ti×(λ/2)} among the plurality of pulses, and a Doppler shift of each received signal caused by the matter that the target has a speed component moving in the same direction as the radar signal is compensated, to make a time position for each received signal to be compressed the same. Here, Pw(1), Pw(i): the pulse width of a first and i-th transmission pulses; Dr(1), Dr(i): the distance resolution of the first and i-th transmission pulses; Ti: the time interval between the first transmission pulse and the i-th transmission pulse; and λ: the wavelength of transmission radio waves.
