Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fundus camera which uses LED elements, is small in the size and good in luminous efficacy, and uniformly emits illumination light. SOLUTION: In a photographing illumination light source 14, sixteen blue LED elements 16a-16p for emitting blue light are arranged on a substrate 15 discretely in a ring shape. Spaces among the blue LED elements 16a-16p thus arranged are filled with a fluorescent material 17 without gaps in a manner to cover the blue LED elements 16a-16p. The blue light emitted from the blue LED elements 16a-16p excites the fluorescent material 17 to generate fluorescence. White light for illumination is generated by mixing the fluorescence excited from the fluorescent material 17 with blue light directly emitted without exciting the fluorescent material 17.
