PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyvinyl alcohol film which can be used for manufacture of a polarizing film having high polarizing performance and a method for manufacturing the same, and to provide a method for manufacturing the polarizing film using the same. SOLUTION: In the polyvinyl alcohol film for the polarizing film, an angle formed by a flowing direction and an optical axis is in the range of 70 to 110° and retardation in the thickness direction of a center part in a width direction is in the range of 15 to 90 nm.
