Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of a liquid discharge apparatus and improve the economic efficiency thereof while maintaining a high cleaning effect. SOLUTION: A liquid discharge apparatus includes: a cleaning belt 41 for absorbing ink adhering to an ink discharge surface 21; a moving means for moving the cleaning belt 41 in an arrangement direction of the nozzles; installation rollers 42a and 42b rotatably supporting the cleaning belt 41; a rotating shaft 42c corresponding to the axis of rotation of the installation roller 42b and rotated in a normal or reverse direction by using the movement of the cleaning belt 41, which is caused by the moving means, as a source of power; and a one-way clutch 49 for transmitting the normal rotation of the rotating shaft 42c to the installation roller 42b and preventing transmission of the reverse rotation to the installation roller 42b.
