Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control unit capable of avoiding detection failure and erroneous detection to enhance the reliability of diagnosis. SOLUTION: An engine control unit 2 includes a microcomputer 7 and a driver IC 9 and is mounted in a vehicle, and processes a signal from an external sensor and outputs to external vehicle equipment a pulse signal corresponding to respective equipment to control a vehicle. A determination part 24 of the microcomputer 7 determines the reliability of the diagnosis with respect to the diagnosis of abnormality in an output terminal To of the driver IC 9, and sets a flag when driving the unit at a region low in reliability of diagnosis by detecting driver power voltage, driver drive frequency and on-duty ratio.
