Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-weight switched reluctance motor with few torque ripples, which is easily manufactured. SOLUTION: A stator core includes a plurality of soft magnetic stator segments 3 extended in the axial direction which are disposed at a pitch of the electrical angle 2π in the circumferential direction. Each of the stator segments 3 includes stator magnetic poles 31 to 34 disposed in the axial direction while pinching slots. A rotor core includes a plurality of rotor segment groups composed of a plurality of soft magnetic rotor segments 7U, 7V, 7W extended in the axial direction in such a way that they are disposed at a pitch of the electric angle 2π in the circumferential direction. The stator magnetic poles 31, 32 are magnetically short-circuited by the rotor segment 7U, the stator magnetic poles 32, 33 are magnetically short-circuited by the rotor segment 7V, and the stator magnetic poles 33, 34 are magnetically short-circuited by the rotor segment 7W. DC coils 40A, 40B, 40C and AC coils 4A, 4B, 4C, each of which is made of a ring coil, penetrate the slots between the respective magnetic poles 31 to 34 in the circumferential direction, respectively and separately.
