Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas recirculation device for an internal combustion engine, enabling to improve the fuel economy of the internal combustion engine by increasing the amount of exhaust gas to be introduced from an exhaust system into an intake system. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas recirculation device for the internal combustion engine includes a first EGR passage 50 for recirculating part of exhaust gas from the exhaust system into a surge tank 15 of the intake system, a second EGR passage 60 for distributing part of exhaust gas from the exhaust system near an intake port of each cylinder of the intake system, a shut-off valve 90 for shutting off the flow of the exhaust gas from the second EGR passage 60 into each cylinder, and an ECU 100 as a control means for controlling the shut-off valve 90 to shut off the recirculation of the exhaust gas from the second EGR passage 60 when a throttle valve 30 provided on the upstream side of the surge tank 15 of the intake system is closed during reducing the speed.
