Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a directivity variable antenna unit capable of changing directivity even when surrounded with a metal housing. SOLUTION: The antenna unit 2 is provided with waveguides 11 and 12 having opening widths different from each other L1 and L2, respectively, a waveguide connection part 10 for connecting the waveguides 11 and 12 to each other at one end of each thereof, and an antenna substrate 30 provided in the waveguide connection part 10 to operate as a variable directivity antenna. By switching directivities of the antenna substrate 30, a radio wave transmitted and received from/to the antenna substrate 30 is propagated to one of the waveguides 11 and 12.
