Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a slider having a desirable magnetic head with a high precision, and increase manufacturing efficiency by avoiding the trouble that may occur when cutting a substrate having a plurality of magnetic heads. SOLUTION: A substrate (block 11) on which a plurality of magnetic heads 2 are formed is prepared, and a groove 23 along a desired cutting-plane line is formed on one face 18 of the block 11. After or while a cutting blade 19 is advanced for cutting from a face 17 opposite to the face 18 of the block 11 where the groove 23 is formed to the face 18 where the groove 23 is formed, at least until the tip thereof reaches the inside of the groove 23, the cutting blade 19 is advanced along the groove 23 so as to cut the block 11 and manufacture a slider having the magnetic head 2.
