Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly perform processing of an additional function and routing processing using a function extension module and to extend a function in a scalable manner by packaging one or more function extension modules. SOLUTION: A function execution module 62 for execution of an extended function is connected to a high-speed routing module 32, which is also capable of routing using hardware, to configure a function extension module 6. Therefore, even when a packet having new address information is generated by processing packet data using the function execution module 62, high-speed property of routing for transferring a packet after selecting a new routing destination is maintained by the connected routing module 32, and a plurality of function execution modules 62 are connected to extend the function in a scalable manner by the function extension module. Furthermore, a plurality of function execution modules 62 for different functions are mounted, thereby also integrating a plurality of functions into one internetwork apparatus.
