Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such the problem that in cleaning the inner surface of a mesh-like grid of a corona charger, toner leaks from mesh gaps of the grid and goes round to the outer surface side of the grid, and when the toner is accumulated on the outer surface of the grid, charging failure occurs due to the accumulated toner. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is configured such that in cleaning the inner surface of the grid of the corona charger, a cleaning bias is applied to the grid so as to prevent the toner from leaking to the outer surface side of the grid through from the mesh gaps of the grid and urge the toner to fly to a photoreceptor.
