PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for production of a pigment/resin composition, by which a coloring agent useful for coloring plastics or image-recording agents can be produced by flexibly responding to an increase in demand and by which preparation, kneading, and the following steps can be rationalized by increasing production efficiency, shortening the processing time, and saving manpower. SOLUTION: The process for production of the pigment/resin composition comprises continuously feeding a pigment and a hot-melt resin into an extrusion kneading machine having at least one vent port in the presence of 3-70 mass% water that is the combined content of the pigment and the hot-melt resin and then kneading the material at a temperature higher than the melting temperature of the resin while discharging separated moisture and the water vapour of the remaining moisture from the vent port, so as to disperse the pigment in the hot-melt resin.
