Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission apparatus that can be easily manufactured compared with a case of using an additional component or a specially designed element. SOLUTION: The optical transmission apparatus includes a light receiving element 2 for receiving light and an optical waveguide 6 having a core 3, a cladding 4 adjacent to the core 3, and a light-diffusing recessed part 5 formed in the cladding part for emitting light toward the light receiving element 2. The recessed part 5 diffuses a light beam through a concave lens effect to irradiate the light receiving face 21 of the light receiving element 2 with the light beam.
