PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a granular article kind inspection device which can achieve advanced discrimination accuracy when discriminating and inspecting the kind of a granular article, and by which discrimination inspection of the article kind can be simply conducted. SOLUTION: One or more inspection articles are placed on a placement board, and the inspection articles are photographed from two upper directions. The weight of the inspection articles on the placement board is also measured. Two-dimensional image matching is performed between the photographed image and a template image. Further, a stereo image is synthesized from the photographed images, and stereo matching is performed between itself and a template stereo image. Each combination whose total weight is similar to the measured total weight is extracted from among combinations of the article kind candidates acquired by each matching. Then, a combination whose weighted sum of a distance with the template image in each matching is minimum is selected from among the extracted combinations of the article kind candidates, and specified as the article kind.
