PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermally conductive composition having excellent thermal conductivity and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The thermally conductive composition is obtained by a sol-gel process which includes preparing sol comprising an alkoxysilane, inorganic particles and water, turning the sol into gel, and hardening the gel by heating. In the thermally conductive composition, the inorganic particles are dispersed in a matrix comprising polysiloxane and the inorganic particles and the polysiloxane are chemically bonded to each other. Consequently, among the inorganic particles, heat which they have can be dispersed through the polysiloxane and excellent thermal conductivity can be achieved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
