Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate an outdoor unit in stand-by for operation and to detect state information obtained by the outdoor unit at an indoor unit side without generating operation noise of an electromagnetic relay switch by using a simple circuit constitution. SOLUTION: This air conditioner includes the indoor unit 2 connected with a power source (1), the outdoor unit 3 to which electric power is supplied from the indoor unit (2), the electromagnetic relay switch (8) disposed at the indoor unit side and switching on/off the electric power to the outdoor unit (3), and an indoor control section (7) connected to the power source and controlling opening/closing of the electromagnetic relay switch (8). The indoor control section (7) opens the electromagnetic relay switch (8) in stand-by for operation of the indoor unit (3). The indoor control section (7) conducts a semiconductor switch (8) disposed in a state of being connected to the electromagnetic relay switch (8) in parallel in stand-by for operation of the outdoor unit (3) to communicate with an outdoor control section (21) of the outdoor unit (3).
