Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve air-fuel ratio control accuracy by optimizing smoothing (e.g., moderating) of detected fuel pressure of a fuel pressure sensor in a cylinder injection engine. SOLUTION: The transient/steady state of fuel pressure is determined based on the fluctuating degree of detected fuel pressure of a fuel pressure sensor 29 (or the change degree of target fuel pressure), and the smoothing degree (e.g., a moderating coefficient) of the detected fuel pressure is changed according to the determined result. In this manner, when target fuel pressure does not vary even during the transient operation of an engine, the fluctuation of actual fuel pressure (the detected fuel pressure of the fuel pressure sensor 29) is determined to be slight, and a change of the smoothing degree of the detected fuel pressure in a direction to enhance fuel pressure follow-up performance is avoided to eliminate the influence of high-frequency fluctuation of fuel pressure. If the target fuel pressure varies even during the steady operation of the engine, the smoothing degree of the detected fuel pressure is changed in a direction to enhance the fuel pressure follow-up performance to allow the actual fuel pressure to follow the target fuel pressure with a sufficient response.
