Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect whether or not the position of the center of gravity of a loading object falls within an operation allowable range on a transfer device of a stacker crane. SOLUTION: One end of chains 26 and 27 is connected via load detectors 28A and 28B to an upper part of a pair of side frames 242 and 243 of a support frame 24 for constituting a fork device 23. Weight of the fork device 23 is equally distributed to the load detectors 28A and 28B. Distributed load detecting information detected by the load detectors 28A and 28B is sent to a sub-control computer C2 arranged in the stacker crane 12. The sub-control computer C2 calculates the position of the center of gravity G of the loading object W of putting a pallet P and an article U together. When the calculated position of the center of gravity G does not exist in a preset operation allowable range L, the sub-control computer C2 prohibits operation of the stacker crane 12.
